policies

TECHNOLOGY POLICY

  • Across all committees, the use of technology (laptops, iPads, tablets, phones, etc) without permission is prohibited.

  • In our Crisis and Specialized committees, technology is completely forbidden at all times.

  • In our General Assembly and ECOSOC committees, laptops are permitted at the chair’s discretion only during unmoderated caucuses for working papers/resolutions, reading periods, and amendment procedure.

  • Delegates are only allowed to work on their working papers during committee.

  • If a delegate is found to have worked on their working paper outside of committee, the working paper will be disqualified and the delegate will be ineligible for awards.

NOTE POLICY 

  • Delegates may bring whatever notes they like with them to committee including but not limited to topic guides.

  • Delegates cannot pre-draft working papers and bring them to committee as “notes.”

  • Directors and Assistant Directors will use their discretion to ensure delegates have not pre-drafted resolutions in their notes.

  • If a delegate is found to have pre-drafted resolutions in their notes, their working paper will be disqualified and the delegate will be ineligible for awards.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) POLICY

  • All use of AI is strictly prohibited.

  • Delegates are not permitted to use Chat GTP or any other AI software during committee sessions.

  • If use of AI is detected in position papers, those position papers will be disqualified and the delegate will be ineligible for awards.

  • If use of AI is detected on working papers, those working papers will be disqualified and the delegate will be ineligible for awards.

  • You may not use AI to create your “notes” for committee sessions. This includes using AI to find sources, statistics, examples, translate sentences, or define words.

SPEECH POLICY 

  • Delegates may write their opening committee session speech in advance of the conference and print it for committee session 1; this is the only printed speech delegates may have.

  • All other speeches must be delivered impromptu and cannot be written in advance.

BEHAVIOR POLICY

  • Bullying, Discrimination, and Harassment are strictly prohibited.

  • Mistreatment of delegates, Directors, Assistant Directors, or other conference staff will result in temporary removal from committee.

  • Repeated infractions will result in removal from the conference.

LANGUAGE POLICY

  • All delegates must speak the language of their committee at all times.

    • In all English-speaking committees, this means English must be spoken (including during an unmoderated caucus).

    • In all Spanish-speaking committees, this means Spanish must be spoken (including during an unmoderated caucus).

    • In all Portuguese-speaking committees, this means Portuguese must be spoken (including during an unmoderated caucus).
